Throw Sum CHEESE On Dat--- by Robaato Throw Sum CHEESE On Dat--- by Robaato
This here is Rai's ride, the drop-top Furrari Mouz ZXT. Considering the money he makes from his business, (and his sloppy spending habits) he's among the few that owns one of these special vehicles. Only other people in Ratopolis with cars like these are crime lords. 'Cuz they steal 'em everytime they find a regular citizen owning one. Rai won't let them do that to him though. His car is too special to be yoinked.

His Mouz has been customized into a moving weapon. (Well, cars already can be moving weapons if they're used in a certain manner... Y'know? BAHHH, you know what I mean.) Basically, it's Bond'ed up. The front compartment stores a cannon that acts in the same way as his gun, the Rimshot, utilizing multiple ammo types. And to be REALLY original here, the rims have spikes and other offensive/defensive stuff in 'em. Also, its rear-view mirrors can switch out for narrow spaces and replaced with rear-view guns. (Hey, I designed this stuff when I was a kid. So what if it's cliché. :) )

I obviously suck at rendering cars, so when I get to coloring the pages, I'ma have to study on coloring cars and make it fit within the main color style of the story. So just ignore all the inaccuracies here, this of course is just a ref sheet for it.

Can folks who know about rendering cars give me a few tips and critique? Thanks in advance!

The car looks real cool, man. On another note, you ever try using Google Sketchup to get some basic models? You can download a 3D model of pretty much anything and turn it into line art that you can reference from at whatever angle you want. That can alleviate the whole sucking at drawing cars thing (which sounds like a lie from the looks of things). Anything to make drawing your graphic novel faster and easier...

Yeah, I've played with Sketchup quite a few times. I think the program shines with setting up a landscape or a city that way you can keep things consistent. But it's downside is that people usually end up abusing it. I was gonna go about doing background and page work in that fashion, but that's not really gonna teach me anything but be lazy.

If I learn to draw the objects that I rather would like not to, then that's a better outlet. And it may even get fun when I get really adept with it. Faster and easier is good, but quality and patience always outshines and gives a better output, in my opinion.

Glad you dig the car, by the way, J. :) I guess I just need to stop being too hard on myself. Heh.

Yeah, I understand. I hate the act of "cheating" in some ways, but in other ways I accept that I'm just not going to be good at everything so if I can use a tool to make things a little easier, I'll do so. For instance, I'm planning on using 3DS Max to lay out backgrounds for my comics, especially since I've learned how to make 3D models look cel-shaded in the program.

Heck, even some of the greats admit to using Sketchup just for layout purposes: [link]

I was thinking of Conan o Brian's Bugati Veyron Mouse skit.

The only crit I could add would be the roof mechanics, I'd be concerned with all that glass.

Ahh, I should post my turnaround for the car on my blog. The glass actually extends only to the top bridge between the back, we just can't see that connection to the drop-top from this angle. But you're right, it is more glass than usual compared to a standard car.

Haven't seen that Conan skit, care to link? :)
