Sadly, no one will ever convince me that the New 52 was ever a good idea. Mostly because The Killing Joke was an amazing story, with real life consequences that affected a major character, and resulted with the kind of character growth found in actual literature.
Turning around and making Barbra Gordon into Batgirl again sadly diminishes the character, and also insults the creative process to a certain extent. Giving the creators (future or otherwise) the underlining impression that it ultimately doesn't matter what you do here, since we'll just unmake everything once sales are down again.
I like Barbra Gordon as well, but I liked the idea that these people aren't superheroes all the time even better, the idea that no matter how talented you are in crime fighting, sometimes the bad guy just gets a lucky break. Sometimes shit just happens. And that's really the sad thing that the new Babs leaves me with, a world where nothing I do matters in the long run.
Ditto Robo. Babs did so much more as Oracle then as Batgirl. Steph was a fun new take even if she had been around awhile she brought something new to the character. Also played well with Damian, Squire, and Supergirl.
