Pee Ess Dee 4 Yoo and Mee by Robaato Pee Ess Dee 4 Yoo and Mee by Robaato
Hey gang -

I never done this before, but decided I should. Here's a PSD showcasing how I go about with my colors. I've chosen this image since I already written up a tutorial and such for you to follow along with. Hopefully this will help you in your studies!

:peace:

RIGHT-CLICK DOWNLOAD THE PSD TO VIEW!

*You obviously must have Photoshop in order to view this correctly.*

Quick note while I'm trying to figure out all the layers and how it slots together (Ye gods I wish I could do this! :XD: )

As it is, when I first loaded it there seemed to be a checker effect on the ground. At first I thought one of the layers was turned off, but they were all on. I added a new layer at the bottom of the pile, filled it with white...bam. Checkers were gone and it looked like the final image. Just as a heads up, it might confuse others as well =P

And query; those layers with a little downward arrow, what are they? I never did explore further into Photoshop's layer workings, heh. I guess I'm missing something.
Awesome job as ever man.

DUde your colouring skills are immaculate man. I need to learn more. I suck at doing shiny things and highlights and all lol.

It's all a result of trial and error, man. Learning from your mistakes and whatnot. :)

yeah I hear you man. when I look back at my first attempts at colour it was so shocking, but then again I would not be where I am now without those "horrible" attempts.

Am am only starting to grasp highlights now and about a year ago I didn't even understand it

Thanks for the PSD! It's always great to see how a great artist does his work... I once learned a lot from a Yui Shop PSD I found online... and not just that I hate they way Yui does faces.

Your faces are wonderful BTW.

It's amazing to see how much goes into the final product. Really great to see all the breakdowns and layers in your file. Out of personal preference and my affinity for clean, low-maintenance files, I would probably never work with that many layers. However, the finer nuances of the process itself is what makes this interesting and experiment worthy. This is really a great thing. I always love artists who break down their work like this.

I tend to add and experiment with each layer as I go along. Granted, it would be a bit smaller on the count if I'd merged the flats, but since I was playing with each section on this, I kept them separate.

Glad you can get something out of it, bro! :)
