The Rat Rage OGN is well on the way! So in lieu of that, I'm launching a character creation contest!
I made sure it's a fun competition where everyone can be involved. Your artistic skills is NOT a determining factor for winning. This is a contest based solely on concept!
The contest will last 6 MONTHS. I think that's enough time for you to figure out your character(s).
WHAT IS RAT RAGE?
Rat Rage is about a rat named Rai who takes a stand for those who are afraid of the crime, crooked law enforcement, and vices that plague the City of Ratopolis on the Planet Clauvia. When things get "too big for his britches", he and his friends struggle to cut the root of the problems... only to find that said "root of the problems" is too big for ITS britches...
For more in-depth information, I provided you guys with these Bio-Sheets so you can get some more information on the content and subject matter of Rat Rage:
SO WHERE DO YOU COME IN?
Do you have an anthro character that you created that would fit well within the Rat Rage universe? Are you a fanfic writer that always wanted to see your creations bloom in the book/movie/etc. of your affection? This is where you type of people come in!
Study everything you've seen so far from me involving Rat Rage! Create a character that you think would fit in PERFECT with the concept!
I'm looking for a single protagonist and a single antagonist! There will be a chapter that I will write and draw, dedicated to the winning protagonist and antagonist in the book. And there are extra goodies that'll go along with that. (See below.)
Then I'll choose 10 protags/antags for multiple cameos in the whole book! And everyone who enters will have a chance to be in the book.
Let's elaborate on those prizes, shall we?
1st Place Protagonist -Chapter based on the winning protagonist -Free Copy of Signed Rat Rage Original Graphic Novel -11x17 Prints of every Chapter Cover and Illustration from myself and big-name artists -Personalized 11x17 Illustration/Print from me featuring the winning protagonist within the Rat Rage framework -Full Body Sketch from me of winning protagonist -Name in Credits of the book
1st Place Antagonist -Chapter based on the winning antagonist -Free Copy of Signed Rat Rage Original Graphic Novel -11x17 Prints of every Chapter Cover and Illustration from myself and big-name artists -Personalized 11x17 Illustration/Print from me featuring the winning antagonist within the Rat Rage framework -Full Body Sketch from me of winning antagonist -Name in Credits of the book

Sounds pretty exciting, eh? I'm PUMPED.
So pay attention, the submission rules aren't strict.
RULES AND GUIDELINES
-Your drawing doesn't have to look "professional". As long as the concept is clear, understood, and meshes with Rat Rage well, then you'll be fine. You don't have to color it, but please be aware that color will go a long way, since the graphic novel will be in full color. If you can't color, just add a color palette for the parts of the costume/body/etc. -For you writers who are incapable of drawing, you can jot down an in-depth biography. -The more in-depth your design is, the bigger chance you have for it to be picked. That includes multiple angles of the character drawn, likes and dislikes, age range, etc. -Doesn't matter how you submit the piece. As long as you join the group as a member and submit it to the group's "Character Creation Contest" folder, you'll be fine. -Multiple submissions are allowed. But they do NOT increase your chances of winning. -Make sure the anthro character you create is based and closely associated with smaller rodent type creatures. NO HEDGEHOGS! MEANING, no Sonic fan characters. This isn't Sonic. -NO adult content allowed. There are shapely mouse gals and whatnot in Rat Rage, but that's as far as it goes. This isn't a "furry" book. So keep your weird fetishes to yourself (if you have them) please.
The deadline for the contest is October 31st, 2011.
So with all that, I'll leave you guys to your creating!
A LITTLE MOTIVATION... Whenever I get down into doing some Rat Rage stuff, I bomp my headphones to video game music majority of the time. Rat Rage was originally intended to be a game of sorts, but due to my youthful imagination being limited by reality, I just changed it to a comic. But that doesn't change the fuel that gets my blood pumpin' when I'm drawing. Check my Profile on the front page with all the influences in the game department.
Feel free to ask any further questions about Rat Rage here.
This actually sounds like a really interesting competition! I'm not all big on prizes, just to contribute is a fair factor for me. And luckily, with three more months, I should get something done.. I'll have a go! After all, I'm rather excited for this, I'm a newbie but.. I can get pretty worked up in the time of a couple of days.
